April is month of the military child. Purple is a combination of Marine red, Army green, and Air Force, Navy, and Coast Guard blue. We have a significant number of students with parents in the military. Many of these students moved here from other places, cultures, and friends. And many have parents who deploy 3-6 months or even one entire year at a time. These students are often resilient, and they “bloom where they are planted.” Even so, it can be challenging for them. The Military Child Education Coalition encourages us to show military students we support them through the simple act of wearing purple.
Our day to wear purple is Thursday, April 19th. Let’s PURPLE UP for military students!
