Services are open to both the student and his/her family. MFLC counselors provide brief, non-medical counseling. They often walk around the school, interacting with students, visiting classrooms, and presenting on relevant topics within the classrooms.
There is typically an MFLC counselor on site each day of the week during school hours. Once a student has returned a parent consent form (see link above), the student may talk to a counselor at any time during the school day as long as it does not interfere with his or her academics. Students can drop by the MFLC office during periods they do not have classes or during class periods once they obtain teacher permission (i.e., a pass to the MFLC office).
Due to the “walk-around” nature of the counseling service, students who would like assistance but find the MFLC counselor is not in her office are encouraged to fill out a form located on the office doorframe and place it in the document box on the table adjacent to the office to notify the MFLC counselor of the need.
After school appointments are available to accommodate student and family schedules. If an afterschool appointment is desired, please contact your Crestview High MFLC to schedule an appointment. Parental Consents are required for students to participate in counseling services.
Counseling encounters are confidential*, anonymous and provided at no cost. No records are kept.
*Teachers are notified when the student is with the MFLC counselor in order to account for attendance.
