April 5, 2017 | Zamiya Griffin

The Disney Dream Academy is a place that helps unlock the potential in young people and help them with their future. This is where Hunter Gerard, an 18-year-old, senior, dancer at Crestview High School, went March 9th through 11th. Gerard was 1 the 100 chosen from the 1,000 that applied.

Before going Gerard didn’t know what to expect. While there Gerard met people who can help her in the future. She met TV host and comedian, Steve Harvey, the CEO of ESSENCE Magazine, Mikki Taylor and NFL Quarter Back, Cam Newton, among others. After leaving she was more positive about life and her future.

In the fall, Gerard plans on going to Troy University and furthering her education in designing. According to Gerard she felt that the experience at Disney itself was extremely amazing. “It let me know how to get where I want to be in life”. This is an experience she will never forget according to her and she is extremely thankful for this once in a life time opportunity.
