Student Comments on Recent Academic Team Success

March 7, 2016 | Alana Berry

The Academic Team is a club that participates in competitions against other schools. During a competition, a moderator reads a question to the teams. The players who buzz in first, with the correct answer, score points for their team. The Crestview team consists of Robin Burke, Tyler Day, Christopher Garcia-Soto, Everet Shwig, Patricia Wisenbaker, and Matthew Arnold.

The academic team has won many of their competitions this year. They meet on Mondays after school in Joey¬†Lester’s classroom. Paw Prints caught up with current academic team member, Christopher Garcia-Soto to get his perspective on his teams success.

How do you feel about the academic team’s recent success?

Ecstatic, it has been a long tome since we have won a match.

What do you think is the reason the team is so successful?

Hard work and effort; however, that response is too cliche. I believe the other competitors became overconfident and conceded. This arrogance allowed us to come in and take them by surprise.

What was the hardest part of being on the academic team?

Not knowing what’s going to be asked.

Will you continue to be on the academic team in the future?
