Local Teachers Recognized and Receive PHF Awards

March 8, 2017 | Ariana Fulton

The PHF TEAMS was designed to recognize teachers that go above and beyond in the study of science and math at the high school level in North Okaloosa County. These awards are supposed to generate interest and improve performance in STEM studies through projects, certifications, and plans for teaching among the local students. The HSU Family Educational Foundation is committed to supporting TEAMS in the interest of promoting education in North Okaloosa.

The two deserving teachers this year were Yolanda Porter from Crestview High School and Greg Baker from Baker High School; they each received special recognition and a $5000 award. Porter gave the credit for winning her award to her students saying, “This is all about my students.” She said “Their hard work and engagement are the reasons that I won this award. This is all for them.”

Some other educators were also recognized and received a $500 reward, this includes Darron Dubose, Greg Elrite, Linda Parker and Shanna Suggs from Crestview High School and Debra Adams from Laurel Hill.

Congratulations and thank you to our local teachers.
