Leadership Holds Annual Canned Food Drive
The CHS Leadership Annual Canned Food Drive took place through the month of November. It was a competition between the third period classes, in which, the class who collected the most cans received goodie bags and certificates for free snowcones.
“Their goal is to collect 5000 cans” Mrs. Morgan Crawford, the Crestview High School Leadership instructor stated. The food has to be nonperishable but it does not necessarily have to be canned. Items such as boxed mash potatoes or boxed dinners are allowed. All the cans and nonperishable food items that are collected go to food businesses and places where people can eat Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners.
There was also a Flag Football game on Thursday, November 19th to supplement the drive. The admittance fee was 15 cans. The cans collected went towards the drive.
The food drive is done every year to help food businesses collect nonperishable items for families Christmas and Thanksgiving dinners. The collection of 5000 cans will help these business with the food.
