CHS Competition Cheerleaders have a winning season
It is competition cheerleading season and the CHS competition cheer team has had great success. The competition cheerleading team is required by FHSAA to compete in four competitions a year as well as the Regional and State competitions.
Since October the team has been practicing three nights a week for three hours and every day during 7th period for an hour. Most of the girls on the team are also on the weightlifting team. They work hard to keep up their grades and do well during competition.
The team includes the same team members as the regular squad but consists of Varsity and JV cheerleaders. During a competition the team performs for 2 minutes and 30 seconds and is judged on the complexity of the routine, skills, and dance routine.
Students on the team are: Danni Donofro, Alifare Thomas, Breanna Guthrie, Haley Evans, Alyssa Jernigan, Rebecca Bryan, Erin Davis, Leah Carter, Chelsey Owens, Jennifer Robinson, Danyele Carroll, Kylie Barlow, Lexie Blahuta, Charlsy Sweatt, Macey Kervin, Hayleigh Flowers, Kricket Kronmiller, Camryn Siler, Emily Grace Robinson, Anna Adams. Nikki Sweatt is the coach for the competition cheer team at CHS.
The cheerleaders won their division and Overall Grand Champions in each of the four competitions they competed in this year. On Jan. 23 they competed in the Regional competition at Marianna High School and won, beating Niceville, Chiles and Yulee High School. In fact, their score was high enough to advance them straight to the finals in the State competition. On Jan. 30 they competed in the State competition in Tampa. They won 3rd place.
