CHS Tech Bowl team takes second in district competition
Crestview High School took second place in the district Tech Bowl on Saturday, November 5th. During Tech Bowl Students of every grade level are separated into divisions, elementary, middle and high school. The divisions compete within themselves and are graded on speed, accuracy, and by meeting the guidelines. Two people must make a PowerPoint presentation that meets all of the given requirements with a time constraint of one hour. Then the hardware people have to troubleshoot inside the computer and fix the issues they find as fast as they can. Both scores are added together to get the final score.
Two seniors, Chandra Andrade and Gavin Johnson worked together on a PowerPoint, with an hour time limit, that had a specific set of requirements and guidelines that all had to be crammed into 10 slides.
Once the PowerPoint was finished, a junior, Jakob Miracle and a sophomore, Cody Morton worked with the hardware portion; observing, understanding, and fixing a computer that some very generous military members messed up for them. The team was fortunate to have Stephen Caldwell and Breyanna Davis, both juniors, as alternates there to help out if needed.
The team took second in the hardware and second in the PowerPoint.
