CHS Juniorettes present the annual Top Dog performance

March 17, 2016 | Madison North

The much anticipated, superhero themed, 2015-2016 Top Dog performance was held March 11 at Crestview High School. Six superheroes took the stage to give everyone a laugh, and more importantly, raise money for Relay For Life. Relay For Life events are life-changing cancer fundraising events that help communities across the globe fight back against cancer. The Juniorettes at Crestview High School decided this performance would be a great start to supply the money needed to hold a Relay For Life event at Crestview High School.

The Top Dog Superhero contestants were:

These six men each performed their own talent act. From rapping to dancing across the auditorium, the contestants did everything they could to make the crowd laugh and support their performances. Andrew Black, a Crestview High School teacher, acted as the Master of Ceremony and provided commentary throughout the contest.

After the talent acts were wrapped up, each contestant had to use their best pick-up line in attempt to win the heart of their sweetheart. Ericka Kennedy, a Crestview High School teacher, acted as the men’s pick-up line sweetheart.

Once the pick-up lines were finished, each contestant was escorted across the stage by a Juniorettes member in order to give the three judges a final look at who they were voting for. The judges were Crestview High School teachers, Jessica Rodrigues, Leah Merritt and Alex Andrews.

While the audience and contestants waited on the judges, a PowerPoint presentation was shown with more information on the contestants. Each contestant had a motto, their own superhero in their life, and a little more information about them personally.

Once the results were in, the contestants lined up on stage, anticipating their award. Each person received an award, but only one got the crown for their 2015-2016 Top Dog winning act.
