February 16, 2016 | Deanna Fincham

There were 14 teachers total but 9 of the teachers nominated for Paul Hsu Foundation Teaching Excellence Awards in Math and Science are Crestview High School teachers. This article is part 2 in a series of articles about all 9 of the CHS teachers who were nominated. The Science teachers who were nominated are Darron Dubose and Tammy McKenzie.

One of the students from Mr. Dubose’s class said “I think he should win this award because he is a good teacher and helps us with our weak points and helps us reach the standard we need to be at. He makes science fun for all of us and it’s like were in class for 5 minutes because it goes by so quickly. I hope he wins this award not only for being a great teacher, but because he is our friend.”

One of Mrs. Mckenzie’s students said “She deserves this award. She is the nicest and easiest teacher to get along with. Her class is easy as could be because she teaches all of her students in a way that clicks to our brains and helps us understand. I love going to her class. It’s probably my favorite class and teacher. I really hope she wins. She deserves this award because of how great she cares about us. She looks beyond us during school. She just wants to know about how we are outside of school because she truly does care about us.”
